The Heritage High School tennis team didn't make the postseason last year, but this year the Coyotes jumped to the top of District 9-5A.

The Coyotes team of boys and girls finished undefeated in their nine district matches to claim the District 9-5A (Frisco ISD) title
and top seed in the playoffs.

The playoffs will begin next week. In the last two years, Frisco ISD had seven of its eight postseason qualifiers advance at least one round in the playoffs.

Centennial finished second in 9-5A this year with an 8-1 district record. The Titans and Coyotes will be joined in the playoffs by Independence (7-2 district record) and Lebanon Trail (6-3), which was the defending district champion and last year was a 5A Region 2 finalist.

The depth of Frisco ISD’s tennis talent showed throughout the season with seven teams appearing in the 5A state rankings. In the midseason rankings put together by the Texas Tennis Coaches Association, these FISD teams were included:

2. Heritage
4. Centennial
5. Independence
6. Lebanon Trail
8. Reedy
11. Liberty
16. Wakeland

Unfortunately, only four teams make the playoffs from each district.

Good luck to Frisco ISD teams in the playoffs.
